Therapist Conduct Standards

Effective Date: May 5, 2026

Florida Massage Elite is a curated directory for licensed Florida massage therapists. These Conduct Standards form part of the Terms and Conditions and apply to every Independent Professional listed on the platform. By creating or maintaining a profile, you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to follow every standard below.

1. Licensure

  • You hold a current, unrestricted, active Florida massage therapy (MA) license issued under Chapter 480 of the Florida Statutes.
  • You will display your license number on your public profile and keep it up to date.
  • You will notify the platform immediately of any change in license status, disciplinary action, suspension, or revocation.
  • You authorize Florida Massage Elite to verify your license against the Florida Department of Health public registry at any time.

2. Continuing Education (24-hour biennial cycle)

Florida requires every licensed massage therapist to complete 24 hours of continuing education every two years. Florida Massage Elite expects practitioners to be current on the full breakdown:

  • 12 hours of in-person, hands-on technique training (distance/online learning is no longer accepted for this requirement).
  • 2 hours of Professional Ethics.
  • 2 hours of Prevention of Medical Errors.
  • 2 hours of Florida Laws and Rules.
  • 1 hour of Human Trafficking Awareness (board-approved course).
  • The remaining hours may be used for additional training relevant to your practice.

You will retain CE certificates and provide them on request. The platform may suspend any profile that cannot demonstrate compliance within 14 days of a written request.

3. Human Trafficking Prevention

Florida Massage Elite enforces a zero-tolerance policy. Any suspicion, investigation, charge, or violation involving non-therapeutic activity, sexual services, or human trafficking results in immediate, permanent removal from the platform.

  • You have completed (or will complete within the current CE cycle) a board-approved 1-hour human trafficking course.
  • If you operate or work from a massage establishment, that establishment complies with Florida Statute § 480.043(13), including a Designated Establishment Manager (DEM) and the required reporting signage in areas accessible to staff and clients.
  • You will report suspected human trafficking immediately. The National Human Trafficking Hotline is 1-888-373-7888.

4. Professional Boundaries

  • Sessions are strictly therapeutic. Any client request for sexual, “adult,” or otherwise non-therapeutic services must be refused and reported to the platform.
  • You will conduct sessions in a clean, well-lit, professional environment that meets Florida sanitation requirements.
  • You will obtain and document informed client consent prior to any session, including scope of treatment and any contraindications.
  • You will respect client privacy and comply with all applicable privacy laws regarding any health information shared with you.

5. Booking, Screening & Cancellation

Florida Massage Elite is a directory, not a booking agent. You set and enforce your own booking, screening, and cancellation policies. The platform supports the following practices:

  • Verified contact. You may require a verifiable phone number and full legal name before confirming a session. Anonymous booking attempts may be refused at your discretion.
  • Deposits. You may require a non-refundable deposit to hold a session slot. Florida Massage Elite is not a party to and will not arbitrate deposit disputes.
  • Cancellation. Publish your cancellation policy on your profile (e.g., 24-hour notice, late-arrival cutoff, no-show fee). Apply it consistently to every client.
  • Right to refuse. You may refuse or terminate any session at any time for safety, comfort, or professional reasons.

6. Profile Content

  • All photos must depict a professional massage therapy environment. Suggestive, provocative, or non-clinical imagery will be rejected.
  • All claims (years of experience, certifications, modalities, school affiliation, graduation year) must be accurate. Misrepresentation is grounds for permanent removal.
  • Pricing and service descriptions must reflect what you actually offer. Bait-and-switch pricing is prohibited.

7. Reporting and Enforcement

Florida Massage Elite reviews every profile and every reported concern. Enforcement actions include:

  • Warning. Minor first violations of profile content or screening practices may result in a written warning.
  • Suspension. Repeated minor violations, lapsed license, or unverified CE compliance may result in a temporary suspension until corrected.
  • Permanent ban. Any violation involving sexual solicitation, human trafficking, fraudulent licensing, or physical harm to a client is grounds for an immediate, permanent ban with full forfeiture of subscription fees.

Reports of misconduct may be sent to contact@floridamassageelite.com and will be reviewed within two business days.

8. Acknowledgment

By maintaining a profile on Florida Massage Elite, you acknowledge that you have read these Conduct Standards, that they form part of the Terms and Conditions, and that violation may result in suspension or permanent removal.
